K-9 to 5

Currently airing it's third season internationally on Discovery Network's Animal Planet. You can tune in on Saturday mornings at 10:30 EST and again at 2:30 EST. Amfebious Productions was contracted by Tremendous! Entertainment, as Director of Photography and Sound Recordist.

One of the "Shorts" for K-9 to 5, Hang gliding was shot using a small digital video camera mounted on the hang glider.
Working like Dogs:
Filming for this show started in the spring of 1999. We were conrtacted to shoot about 2/3 of the segments. Each segment was 4-6 minutes long.

Locations: The locations varied for each segment. We traveled extensively throughout American and Europe.

Segments we shot:

Flyball Champion. shot in Omaha Nebraska, a dog named -- , a yellow lab, was the professional athlete in this sport of intense teamwork and agility.

Stunt Dog. Shot in San Diego, California, a dog named---, an Australian Cattle dog trains
for appearances in feature films.

Prison Pooch. Shot in Leland England near Manchester. This prison dog, a yellow lab, sniffs out narcotics on visitors to the prison.

Drug Dogs. Shot in Omaha, Nebraska and Minnesota. A Belgian Malnois named Xena trains to sniff out drugs. We follow as Zena is trained, meets its Minnesota State trooper and rides in the squad car.

Weather Dog. Shot in Kansas City, Kansas. Windy, a mix, the weather dogs helps her partner, a local TV weatherman predict the weather.

*Beach Bum. Shot in San Diego, California. Howdy Doody, a bassett hound, goes windsurfing with his owner Barbara Ayers (see the K-9 to 5 clip) and has helped establish Dog Beach. This is an ocean beach where dogs and their owners can run free.

Avalanche Rescues. Shot in Brianson, France. Two german shepards learn to find people buried in avalanches. We travel to 9,000 feet and stage an avalanche. We capture the dos in action as they rescue their trainers.

Truffle Hunter. Shot in Provence, France. Nougat, a yellow lab, learns to hunt for Truffles. Sometimes called Black Diamonds, truffles sell for $500 per pound. They are a very rare type of mushroom found only in a few places in the world. Nougat finds them beneath the soil around Black Oak trees.

*Water Rescuers. Shot in Northern Italy. Maas, a newfoundland, is part of a special water rescue team in Italy. These dogs are trained to jump into the water, sometimes from helicopters (also on the video clip) and rescue drowning victims.

Ski Jouring. Shot in Maine. An Alaskan husky is rigged with a special harness to pull skiers and snowboarders.

Geese Chasers. Shot in Ohio. Two border collies - Tati and Jill work on a golf course chasing geese away to help with the goose poop problem on the greens. Jill got the pink slip as she didn't do her job well.

Sheep Herders. Shot near Edinborough, Scotland. Glen, a border collie, works the sheep ranch. We also see Glen compete in sheep hearding trials.

Bomb Sniffers. Shot in Aldershot, England. A chocolate lab named Barney helps the British army detect bombs and weapons before the men get hurt.

Hang Glider Dog. Shot in San Diego, California. A Yellow lab loves to fly with his master. He has a special harness and rides on his master's back. See picture above & video clip.

Surfer Dude. Shot in San Diego, California. A black Lab hangs 4 (paws) in the surf. He is also on the video clip.
